A Closer Look at IDCWC Online Course:

The IDCWC Online is different from any other online course. It is a course that understands its audience and motivates you to learn. It implements all facets of instructional design, through creative and highly interactive activities and scenarios. It appreciates the need to learn instructional design at the analysis and synthesis levels, as instructional designers are expected to synthesize their knowledge of instructional design with that of the audience and content to create learning material.

The IDCWC Online course ensures that each competency covered in the course has corresponding learning interactions that guide learning through cases and scenarios, elicit learning through interesting contextual exercises, and provide directional and constructive feedback.

A course can be expected to enable creation or synthesis only if it imparts learning at analysis and synthesis levels. The IDCWC online course does exactly this. Following are the features through which the course ensures that you become a confident instructional designer.

IDCWC Online - Course Highlights
1. Use of semi-formal language, which leads to an amicable learning space.
2. Contextual examples present instructional concepts and their application in a practical hue (of the eLearning & training industry.)
3. More than 150 learning interactions and activities guide learning by engaging your mind.
4. Case-based activities and exercises help reinforce the learning at higher levels. Thus enabling you to use instructional design and content development concepts in creation of content.
5. Optional exercises for those who love to explore.
6. Fortnightly assignments to be submitted online for review and feedback. These assignments focus on application of concepts and help you assimilate them.
7. Fortnightly online discussions. The discussions shall allow you to reflect upon and share your experiences. According to Andragogy, adults learn best when they collaborate. This forum provides you an opportunity to do just that.
8. Monthly quizzes to assess your learning.
9. Final Project, which you shall be submitting online in form of in-process assignments for feedback and guidance.
10. Course design as per instructional design principles.
11. Active support through email and telephone.
12. Clear, simple-to-use, and efficient interface.
13. World-class graphics.
14. Continuous grading and evaluation, ensures that you learn all the way.

This course is designed to interact with you at an intellectual level that an instructional designer needs to be at. It lays the instructional design framework for you, and then provides you the tools that you can use to create effective courses for any audience and on any subject. It exposes you to the magic of instructional design, which can make your course or trainings outshine those that are created on purely intuitive basis.

The IDCWC Online Course Participants' Views...

"I really enjoyed the course. It opened for me a new window in the publishing world. It made me reflect in the process of designing an elearning course. Shafali is a great instructor and she was always helpful. Thanks to the course coordinator also for answering all my questions. The application is very clear and very creative. The interactions and images are very attractive. Well designed!

In summary, I have learnt a lot and the course fulfilled my expectations.

Thanks for this.

Pilar Garrido,
Editor-Project Leader,
Authentik Language Learning Resources Ltd , Dublin, Ireland.

"The course was really good. Though I had worked earlier on creating courses, the target audience was just production employees and we did not follow any processes. We do gap analysis and find out where the gap is and create courses to fill that gap. IDCWC helped me streamline the method of going about a course. Shafali was very helpful during discussions and clarified all our doubts. I had a great learning experience and nowadays when I try creating a course, I take a lot of cues from IDCWC course :).”

Soumya Priya V.,
Account Lead,
Spheris India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore.

" Prior to this course, I had taken few online courses, but those were very short 1-2 hr courses. This was the first elaborate online learning experience and needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the progressive journey. The course is perfectly designed and structured with modules containing the apt assignments, quizzes etc. But the need to complete the modules within the stipulated time made it really effective and different. The discussion forums were the most useful for me, I learnt not only from the facilitator but also from my fellow participants. I would like to thank Shafali for directing us perfectly through every stage of the course.
Thanks Wavelength!

" I am delighted I took the IDCWC online course and it is, I think, a perfect example of a very well-structured online course. Students were given very clear guidance regarding the course content, evaluation etc.

To be honest, I didn’t expect it to be that intensive when I registered. There is indeed a lot of material to cover in three months and it is challenging. But I feel I have learned a lot and would certainly recommend it to anybody interested in Instructional Design.

Dr. Veronique Gauthier,
Editor,
Authentik Language Learning Resources Ltd , Dublin, Ireland.

" The course was a delight and the best learning experience I’ve ever had. It was well delivered and the course activities were conducted very professionally. The course gave me a good grasp over ID concepts and their practical application in the industry. I took up this course as I want to make a career in the elearning industry and the knowledge gained through this course gives me the confidence.

I thank Wavelength for providing such a wonderful course.

Sangeeta Srinivasan Associate,

"Kudos to the Wavelength team for presenting an extremely well-designed and informative course. Probably for the first time in my life, I actually enjoyed a learning experience and looked forward to learn more. I had designed e-learning courses earlier, however, had no formal training in Instructional Designing. I cannot express in words how much richer I have become in terms of knowledge gained through this course. The interactivity and multimedia used in the course is marvellous. I, particularly, liked the assessment methodology used, as it ensured learning by me. I would like to thank Shafali for her guidance and support throughout the course. I simply cannot wait to recommend this course to my colleagues.

Monalisa Guru,
Learning & Knowlege Specialist,
Accenture, Banagalore.

"I would like to thank the entire Wavelength Team for the continuous support and tireless contribution in guiding me all the way through. It has indeed been a real time learning experience for me. Being a complete layman about an online course, this course has actually introduced me to the world of e-learning, an evolving technology in the corporate sector. Throughout the course, I could not only improve my writing skills, but also enhance my knowledge with the varied ID theories and their practical application. This course has definitely given me a clear insight into instructional design and has equipped me with the strategies of dealing with content.

The course has great flexibility in terms of applying the concepts learnt instantly, to the content. I enjoyed the course greatly and I truly feel that this course has given me a platform in shaping up my career in e- learning industry. Now I can make a fresh start in this particular domain, confidently applying the knowledge accumulated from such a wonderful course.

I am truly looking forward to such courses from Wavelength which I honestly feel will pave a way for enhancing my career horizons. Thanks to Wavelength for making things so simple for me. It was indeed an honor on my part, being a member of the wavelength family. I am heartily thankful to Wavelength for providing me with such an excellent course.

"First, I’d like to say that I loved everything about the course. One of the reasons I selected IDCWC Online was the flexibility that the online course offered. Being able to go at my own pace, while at the same time having a set time frame in which to complete the modules, was exactly what I needed. I like that I had the opportunity to choose when to take each module, but also loved the structure of having to complete each module within the required time frame. This offered the flexibility that is necessary when trying to juggle work, home, and coursework, but also offered the structure needed to ensure that each module was completed within a reasonable time frame.

I also liked that we were able to “build” the project over the course of the program. This, too, provided the structure needed, but also provided the opportunity to receive the feedback needed to ensure that I was correctly processing the information taught within the course.

The information presented in the course was invaluable. I’ve been writing online safety courses for over a year, and edited a full year prior to that. The material presented in the course made what I do make a lot more sense when I viewed it in light of the various theories presented. What I gained the most from the course was the ability to understand my target audience on a deeper level. I feel that this has made me become a better writer in the sense that I am now able to put a “face” on my audience. This has enabled me to focus more on connecting with my audience and relaying the concepts to them at a level they can understand rather than just focusing on the writing itself.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed taking the course. In spite of the numerous things going on at the time of year that I took the course (Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays here in the U.S.), I looked forward to taking my classes each week. Keep up the good work!

I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a quality online course in Instructional Design. It was a pleasure being part of such a wonderful group!

"I must say this was probably one of the best experiences of learning I had in my whole life. It was because:
* I had the freedom to learn and focus on what I wanted to draw / learn in-depth from the content.
* The methodology was learner-led, where I had to understand concepts and apply them in assignments.
* The duration was just apt to learn and apply, so that learning remained with you.
* Excellent facilitation by the Facilitator. Truly marvelous, the way she encourages you to learn!
*There was feedback as well as recognition at the end of each module, which kept you going.
*You never felt alone, because of the discussions with fellow colleagues. ”

Ignatius Stanislaus Lobo,
GM - Sales Training & Systems, Pepsi India, Hyderabad

"This course has been one of the greatest achievements in my life. It has helped me immensely to perform my current role effectively. This course is a must for people who want to make a career in eLearning. I have already recommended it to some of my friends wanting to start their career in ID. I am glad that I did this course.

As far as the course content goes, it is apt for people who want to learn and implement ID in their job roles. It is well structured and the information is also not very heavy for a new person to digest. The learning experience is great. The discussion forum was a great platform to discuss our views. ”

Abhilasha Iyer,
Instructional Analyst,
Accenture, Bangalore

"The way the course was facilitated was interesting and encouraging all along the journey.

The thing that interested me most is that I was able to see and feel what I learned through the course modules. Once I moved on into the next module, I felt that what I have learned earlier was implemented and applied on me as a learner, later on within the course. This helped me to understand and live in the experience. I could simply link what I learned with what I implemented, whether in the course activities, assignments or even in the discussion threads.

The way the course was presented has inspired me to think instructionally and to become more involved in my career as instructional designer. I loved the idea of living a story with the characters within the course, tracking the story of their life that helped to understand the concepts more clearly. The user-friendly interface of the course also was of a great help.

Honestly, I could not think of any thing that is missing or might improve the effectiveness of the course further. ”

Suba Jarrar,
Instructional Designer,
AL-Quds Open University, Palestine.

" It was wonderful experience of learning ID. I handle a team of content developers (I am not addressing them as IDs yet, including me). I come from an entirely functional background, and this new team of content developers, develops content based upon the functional requirements. This course came to me at the right time and I could relate my requirements with the structure of content and also those useful tips, which could make my life easy. Today my guidance to my people is completely based on the principles I learnt. So, thanks to IDCWC.

"The course was just great. It has given me a new insight into various classic theories related to learning. It has also enhanced my understanding of the world of e-learning, an emerging technology in the Indian industry. I thank Wavelength for its efforts in building and running this course in a most effective blended way. I congratulate the team for making it happen.

Keshava Murthy,

"The IDCWC Online course gave me a chance to see an online course from a student's perspective. As a part of production unit that creates the online course, this perspective is invaluable. The best thing I liked about the course was that it teaches ID through a very sound ID structure. I enjoyed discovering the ID theories applied within the course, it was a-double-loop learning! The course is customized and I could relate to the example and cite my experience in the discussions and assignments. The course is exciting and a challenging must-do for any aspiring ID!”

Jayati Mukherjee,
Lead Content Developer,
Tata Interactive Systems, Mumbai

"I felt the course was well structured and the activities well placed throughout the training. I enjoyed the course and the method of delivery. The course has helped to motivate me and helped me see how online training can be implemented effectively. I also enjoyed the group discussions and finding out other learner’s views on different aspects of ID. I learnt a lot about ID from the course and also enjoyed the learning process that was used.

Thank you wavelength, for a course well designed as well as interesting. ”

Kogiela R,
Instructional Designer, Nedbank, Johannesburg,
South Africa

"I had a wonderful learning experience. I thought that Instructional Design has got to do only with common sense and this course proved me wrong, as there are solid theories behind it. The 3 months duration is just perfect for someone working, not too long or too short. The course structure is very good and to the right detail designed by using good ID strategies.

The best thing about this course in comparison to those provided by other institutes is the discussion forum where all learners come to a common platform and share their opinions and learn together and the feedbacks from the mentor for all assignments. Every step of the way, we knew our progress.

I also liked the fact that the course coordinator was very active and ensured that none of us missed the deadlines. I have already referred some of my colleagues who are enjoying the course right now. I am sure anybody can handle interviews very confidently after attending this course and those who are already IDs can create good courses.

Romola Kshetrimayum,
Sr. Training & Documentation Specialist, Oracle India, Bangalore.

"Extremely well made course. Fun to learn, concepts explained very clearly. Everything taught, is definitely put into practice well. The discussion forums were a great platform to interact and added the much needed human touch to this online course.

I especially, liked the way we were gently guided towards the completion of the final project. The remarks were indeed helpful. Of course, the sense of satisfaction on completing the project is exhilarating!"

Hajira Shaheen,
Adwords Senior Representative, Google India, Hyderabad.

“Honestly, this has been one of the best learning experiences I have ever had. For me, it was much better than a traditional classroom setting. I was able to focus on key concepts pertinent to me without "noise."

I have seen other courses offered with promises of similar results in an accelerated format such as a week. These courses have even carried international brand names in the industry; yet, which have defied logic as to how the content could be as comprehensive or absorbed properly in such a timeframe.

I had a good time and learned from the course and my peers. The course was
great."

Brandon Tautimer ,
eLearning & New Media Designer, HD Institute, Arizona, USA.

"Learning Instructional Design with Wavelength was a wonderful experience. They gave me a complete, planned and powerful course. It not only taught me how to design courses but also gave me confidence to design my life. The guidance provided was something
extra-ordinary. I am extremely thankful to Wavelength..

B. Kundhavi,
Trainee (Instructional Design),
Animantz.
,Mumbai.

"At the onset, I would like to thank the Wavelength Team for having created this wonderfully enriching program, which had so much depth in its content. It seems that someone (has to be a team of experts) has painstakingly gone through the various aspects of the course in order to create this masterpiece. The course, by involving the learners in various activities, took an incredibly practical approach to impart knowledge on the subject of Instructional Design. Had it not been for the concept assignments, project assignments, discussions, quizzes and the regular feedback from the facilitator, the course would have merely been academic in nature. This course serves as a fine benchmark for me for taking up any other Elearning courses in future. I may or may not choose Instructional Design as a profession, but the learning I have acquired here surely helps me in gaining understanding of the ID world. It was truly a memorable journey which I shall cherish....at least till the time I take up one of your next courses!

Praneet Upadhyaya,
Training Lead (Voice & Accent), Keane Worldzen, New Delhi

"This is my first exposure to an online course and to the world of elearning, and I must say that the first impression has been really excellent. Before signing up for the course, I admit that I was a bit skeptical about whether it would actually be helpful. But I'm glad that I was proved wrong! The course content, the look and feel, discussion forum, assignments -the way it was all put together is really amazing. Last but not the least, Shafali as the facilitator, was the icing on the cake! I really admire her commitment and the patience. Her insightful comments and suggestions have been really helpful. All in all, it has been a great learning and fun experience for me. Thank you, Wavelength and especially Shafali.”

Rachana Ramanan,
Technical Lead, Wipro Technologies, Bangalore

"The Instructional Designing course has been a very enriching experience. The
course caters to practical application of ID theories. The project given ensured that we were able to apply all aspects covered in the course, giving us a practical perspective of the end-to-end ID process.

This course has helped me build the creativity required to design courses.

"IDCWC has been the BEST course I’ve done till date and I highly recommend this to an aspiring ID or anyone who wishes to be a part of the eLearning or training industry. The Wavelength approach to learning is hands-on, engaging, challenging and highly effective.

The course is as good as the learner chooses it to be, while doing course assignments, applying this learning on-the-job, and to life, in general. Apart from demystifying ID in a stimulating and enjoyable way, it has boosted my confidence and helped me understand concepts that once seemed like lofty jargon! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the combination of self-paced learning coupled with intelligent discussions and guided learning.

This was the first online course I did and I didn’t once feel it was impersonal or something that I had to suffer through. Thanks to the Wavelength team for your prompt assistance, encouragement and joie de vivre throughout! Thanks for designing such a great course!"

Tanya Machado,

"The best thing about the course has been that it helped me get a job in one of the premier elearning organizations in the country. Besides imparting learning in the most effective manner via the discussion forum and assignments made it more interesting. The reviews were most helpful in learning the concepts as well as correcting my mistakes. I guess I put in more effort and gained more from an online course than I had done for regular classes.

The content of the course is rich and the interactivities are interesting and also fun. It has been a great learning experience for me”

"1st , let me congratulate the entire IDCWC Online team for putting together such an amazing course!! Hats off to you all!! Rarely does one come across a course, which is so comprehensive, student-friendly and challenging. The course made me question and delve deeper into ideas and thoughts, which had not hitherto been, kneaded enough. The language used was simple and strong enough to get the message across to the learner. The learning interactions, I must say have been done very well. And how can I forget! Wavelength’s support and expertise in the field made me feel comfortable all through.

In all, I feel very lucky and grateful that I got to do the IDCWC Course. It is quite a masterpiece!"

Rochana Rajan,

I loved the way the course lectures were presented, discussions facilitated, and assignments evaluated to continuously guide learning. Content-wise too, I am fully satisfied as I learnt a number of new practical tools, frameworks, and methodologies for instructional design as well as content writing. That I am actively engaged in course design and delivery (though CBTs) makes me value the course even more.”

And finally, Shafali thanks to you for your timely feedback, motivation, and inputs.”

"This course taught me how to integrate different concepts to bring a result. No other course I did ever taught this key skill to me. As I neared the end of the course, I started appreciating the course more. ”

G. Sreenivasa Rao,
Sr. Project Coordinator, Sahanav, Hyderabad

"Overall the course completely meets the objective of being able to apply ID in creating excellent course designs.

The experience has been positive, it was my first online course and the effectivenes of e-learning was brought home by the course. The discussions and the feedbacks, the assignments were just right to enable understanding and application of each theory and model.

The learning was an enjoyable and joyful experience. The simple but effective animations, the various forms of illustrations, the all endearing bholu, the reflections and info potions, the colour schemes used, all added to the enjoyable experience.

The application learning was woven right through the course by connecting the theories and models with concept assignment and slowly building on the course project. Considering the duration of the course the break up of the modules and its components was just right.

Rashida Atthar,Consultant , Mumbai

"The course has been excellent. To a beginner, it is the right way to begin. For the experienced, it is an appropriate way to fine-tune their skills. I have no second thoughts in saying, that this course is truly of a world class. The best part of the course is that it is a course on e Learning offered through e-Learning methodology. An important characteristic is its learner friendliness. The interactive nature of the course sustains interest throughout. At no moment do you feel left away. Evaluation and Review of assignments helps you to get on the right track.

Highly recommended for those planning to make their career in e-Learning industry.”

T. Navin, Sr. Research Executive, Basix, Hyderabad.

"The IDCWC Online course literally walks the talk, every step of the way (…and I have seen a few courses!) You guys practice what you preach. To have evolved a systematic and scientific approach to teach what is essentially a very creative subject is no mean achievement. Full marks to you!...

The course is designed almost to perfection. Each component of the course plan - whether it is the discussion thread topic, the intermittent interactive exercise, or the case study - has been carefully crafted with a specific objective in mind. The assignments and the feedback have been designed to be stepping stones for the forthcoming topic. Ditto with the supplementary teaching aids - the additional reading, the reflection and even the icons used are all there with a clear-cut purpose.

The application on which the course runs, is user-friendly and almost flawless - I would like to make a special mention of the Quiz, the Online Test and the various interactions through the course.

For someone like me who is no stranger to elearning content development, but still struggling to put a finger on exactly how to design an effective elearning course, this course has been an eye opener. I intend to reinvent my career as a logical outcome of this
course. ”

Arun Belavadi, Project Manager (eLearning),
Excel-Soft Technologies, Mysore.

"Your course was very good. This was my first online course and the experience was fantastic.

The course material was very informative and the exercises very good. One particular thing that I liked about your course was the deadlines given to us. This always kept us on our toes. When it comes to learning, you have used a lot of examples, which made complex topics easier to understand. The learning interactions that related to practical instructional design were informative. They gave us a feel of what we were going to face.

To sum up, I'm a very confident person now and my approach to learning or training has changed. Thanks to you and your team. ”

Mahesh Reddy,
Group Leader - Training, Hinduja TMT, Bangalore.

"This is the most gratifying course I have ever undergone professionally speaking. The content delivery mechanism is near perfect. Almost all major principles of Andragogy have been addressed to while designing the course. The course is an example of how effective eLearning can be. I'm sure this course will soon earn the reputation of a "Must Attend" course in the ID community.

The feeling that arises in my heart when I think back of the days I was involved in the course is one of immense happiness because of the satisfaction of meaningful knowledge gain. ”

Vinay Varrier,

More than these things I appreciate your 'personal touch' with us! You have the art of encouraging your students and getting the best out of them!

Bravo!! God bless you and your IDCWC team at Wavelength!
