(A Closer Look at IDCWC Online Course)

Q1
I see that you have two different courses that are related to instructional design? How’s one course different from another?

Ans:
Actually, there are two different Instructional Design courses. These courses cater to different audience groups.

Here are short summaries of the courses and their corresponding audiences.

  1. The IDCWC Online (Insructional Design and Content Writing Certificate) course aims at enabling the learner to design courses and create storyboards for content development. The IDCWC Online course focuses on content development professionals who are new to the field and who are engaged in content creation for eLearning. Thus, the right audience for the IDCWC Online course is an individual who is excellent at writing English and who wishes to learn Instructional Design with an eLearning focus. Thus, the audience for this course would include content writers, instructional designers (working for eLearning/non-eLearning organizations), trainers, teachers, and other professionals working in the area of content development.
  2. The IDSP Online (Instructional Design for Senior Professionals) course aims at equipping the senior professionals from learning/training organizations or institutions, with instructional design. This course assumes that you have ample experience in a learning/training-related area of work, and you would like to decide how instructional design maps to your work and how it can enhance it. Thus, the audience for the IDSP Online course include project managers, training managers, sales managers, delivery managers, senior trainers, and senior academicians; who have grown into management positions.

Ans:
We have created the IDCWC online course keeping in mind the characteristics of the online medium. This course is equally robust and hence deserves the same treatment as the contact course. The certificate that you shall obtain upon completion of this course is the same as the one for the contact course.

Q8
You've asked us to complete the form and send you copies of some documents. What are they for?

Ans:
An instructional designer is an individual who is involved in content creation process. This means that a certain level of intellectual maturity is desired in the individual, which we feel comes only after graduation. Even those who are in the final year can apply for the course. Most eLearning organizations also have similar requirements. As Wavelength's courses are geared towards meeting the requirements of eLearning industry, we review the certificates to map the participant's profile to the requirements of the course.

Q9
What are my prospects upon completing this course?

Ans:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are a graduate with < 6 months of experience:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wavelength's IDCWC course has set standards for ID education in India. For this reason, this course and the certification is recognized by most eLearning organizations. We often get requirements for fresher level positions from various multinational organizations located all over India. As the contact program has been taken mainly by professionals of 2-14 years of experience, the requirement though burgeoning, remains unfulfilled. There is a huge requirement of fresh IDCWC certificate-holders at any given point in time.
-----------------------------------------------------
If you are an experienced professional:
-----------------------------------------------------
This course has been drawing professionals with 2-14 years of content development/training experience who wish to hone their ID skills to design and develop more effective content. Almost all IDCWC students have found that this course has helped them carve a bigger and better niche in their respective organizations. Some have won accolades within their organizations for ID. The IDCWC course can help you understand and implement instructional design correctly. This will help in your career growth as well as help you realize your hidden potential in content development.

Q10
I write good English but I don't intend to take up a job in Instructional Design. Will this course help me?

Ans:
This course helps you create instructionally effective content. It exposes you to the magic of instructional design, which can make your course outshine those that are created on an ad-hoc basis. This ability is scarce in the freelance market, which is growing along with the industry. If you write well, you can learn to write instructionally effective content. This will give you a good standing in the Indian Content Development market as a freelance instructional designer.

The IDCWC Online is different from any other online course. It is a course that understands its audience and motivates you to learn. It implements all facets of instructional design, through creative and highly interactive activities and scenarios. It appreciates the need to learn instructional design at the analysis and synthesis levels, as instructional designers are expected to synthesize their knowledge of instructional design with that of the audience and content to create learning material.

The IDCWC Online course ensures that each competency covered in the course has corresponding learning interactions that guide learning through cases and scenarios, elicit learning through interesting contextual exercises, and provide directional and constructive feedback.
