When Photoshop was young, it didn’t have so many of its regular features – then how did Schewe manage to wrap the wooden grains so beautifully on the muscles of this man’s arm? Find out by clicking http://www.adobe.com/ap/print/gallery/schewe/image1.html

And if you looking for more click http://www.adobe.com/ap/print/gallery/schewe/ to read “Profile of a Photoshop abuser”, an article about Jeff Schewe’s involvement with Photoshop and how their relationship resulted into the ever-evolving software that grows to meet our needs even before we consciously realize them.

Check out Schewe’s gallery at the top of this page.

December 2006

For Flash Fans:

You must've victimized so many characters. No? I do not agree...nor will you, if you click http://ic3.deviantart.com/fs12/f/2006/268/c/e/redkangac.swf and watch "Animator vs. Animation" to discover what happens when the victim turns aggressive. Be careful and treat your creations well! View more of Alan Becker's works at http://alanbecker.deviantart.com/gallery/

For Photoshop Pros:

Click http://www.blizzard.com/inblizz/fanart/page38.shtml to visit the Fan Art Gallery at Blizzard.com. Each of theses artworks is so professionally executed, that it makes you wonder why Blizzard doesn't recruit these fan artists for its projects. Or, it probably does! Check it out.

For 3d Dons:

This month let us be inspired by some CG architecture. Here are a few links, that should inspire you not only graphically but also motivate you to climb Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Are you a fan of Flash? If you are not one yet, clicking http://animation.about.com/library/tutorials/animatedpixie.swf should motivate you to become one. Yes, this pixie is made in Flash. If you want to know how, click http://animation.about.com/od/flashanimationtutorials/ss/colordetailart.htm to find out!

For Flash Fans:

September 2006

For Flash Fans:

http://www.eye4u.com/home/ is where you can find the demos of some flashy intros and cool cartoon animations that they've done for their clients.

For Photoshop Pros:

If you created cartoons you would know what goes into good cartooning. It isn't just the eye for detail, nor is it only the ability to see the bigger picture - cartooning requires the ability to look at the big picture, review the details - then determine what changes will result in the effect that you look for! Click http://www.einarlunden.com/ to visit the cartoon gallery of Einar Lunden, and be amazed by this wonderful synthesis of Mr. Lunden's creativity and Adobe's technological expertise! I just loved - "Gesundheit:"!

For 3d Dons:

Every month I try to bring you links that, I hope, inspires you to push the bars higher for yourself. One such link for those who prefer the three-dimensional to the planer is: http://www.the123d.com/characters/ideyetronics/bodybuilder1.html

The model is very realistic, no doubts! But the presentation of the model, including the different views as well as the close-ups, is excellent.
Another link that I would like to share here is http://www.amazing3d.com/services/trans1.html, which is a gallery of 3D models that organizations/individuals can buy. Their organic models do not impress me, but the automobile models are quite nice.

August 2006

For Flash Fans:

Flash fans too would like to sneak a peek into the history of Flash. Why not? Jonathan Gay began experimenting with what later became FutureSplash and then Flash, around the same time when John and Thomas Knoll began working on what we know as Photoshop today. Click http://www.flashmagazine.com/413.htm to read this inspiring story.

The above article uses some information from the four-page story by Jonathan Gay himself. This story is available at: http://www.adobe.com/macromedia/events/john_gay/

The curious part of this story is that in 1996, Jonathan Gay approached Adobe with the product and Adobe declined - Recently, Adobe bought Macromedia, the company that took Flash to the height it is at today! If any of you have faced a rebuttal or refusal, remember this - recognition from another is not necessary for a capability to exist and survive; it is recognition from within, which ensures the survival of a capability.

For Photoshop Pros:

Photoshop enthusiast will find the information at http://www.storyphoto.com/multimedia/multimedia_photoshop.html exciting. It is the story about the birth and growth of Photoshop, from the days that John and Thomas Knoll spent in their father's darkroom to the days when 200 copies of the now Photoshop was, for the first time shipped along with BarneyScan's scanners.

For 3d Dons:

Click the following links for inspiration:

For Flash Fans:

Come Fly with Me, Scarecrow, The Ripper...what? Oh, no! Did it sound like that? I didn't mean it to. I was just listing a few cool animations from http://www.magicpen.net/main.html. These animations by Gary Davison are fantastic. The ideas are so fresh! Other than the ones mentioned earlier, also check out The Great Fish Escape. Oh! What an escape!

For Photoshop Pros:

Here's a link that should interest you if you love to de-rasterize. De-rasterize? I mean vectorize! Check out "Vector Art with Photoshop" a tutorial on vectorizing photographs at: http://www.melissaclifton.com/tutorial-vector.html. Don't forget to watch the video while you are there.

For 3d Dons:

Do you love Tolkien's visualization of the middle earth? If you do, you probably would also like "The Hobbit's Dwelling" at http://www.highend3d.com/gallery/gallerylarge.php?id=289. This dwelling took the artist, 60 hours to complete. I wish I were a virtual hobbit, who could rent it for the summers. Hobbit Homes are cool as they are much like five-star burrows in the mountains!

March 2006

For Flash Fans:

Ferry Halim's portfolio at http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ is the most fantastic, fresh, and fabulous collection of little Flash games on the net. His graphics are so pretty and sweet, his animations are programmed to be so smooth, and the music is heavenly; I don't think there's anything about this site that I don't like. I am confident that you will enjoy it as much as I do (yes, I am a frequent visitor to this site:-)

For Photoshop Pros:

If you are an artist, Photoshop is probably the best assistant you can get for your money! Check out Nene Thomas' tutorial at http://www.nenethomas.com/Tutorial2GreenCloth.shtml for two reasons:
1. To learn how to paint fabric in Photoshop, and
2. To marvel at what powers Photoshop can endow an artist with.

I am not often drawn towards abstract. My favorite artists are Leonardo DaVinci and Edward Bama; but this gallery looked so inviting. I had to stop and browse...then browse some more. Check out David Bishop's gallery at http://www.theispot.com/artist/bishop/

For 3d Dons:

At http://www.h6.dion.ne.jp/~m.mirage/home.html you will find a fabulous mélange of character and mechanical modeling. The surrealist 3d digital portraits by “Almacan” cast a spell as surreal as the artwork!
