Welcome to this edition of Wavelength.
Last night it rained again. This is the year of the unexpected.
The unexpected and the unprecedented have ruled us this year. The
oil price hike, the burgeoning interest rates, the flooding rainfall;
we didn’t expect any of these…but they happened. Fate
doesn’t answer to the expectations that we set; and it is
precisely for this reason, that we engage in what’s called
risk planning! You need to get the roof repaired before it begins
to rain…if you don’t the risk of leakage materializes;
and the roof begins to leak! The point is – you need to have
a risk prevention and mitigation plan.
Here’s a risk that may interest you. ELearning had not
made a significant dent in the training budgets of the BPOs until
recently…more specifically, until about six months ago. But
something’s changed in the last six months…and companies
are seriously weighing the possibility of using eLearning to provide
more cost-effective trainings. The reason can be traced back to
the overall recession in the global economy.
The point is – what is your risk in this whole game?
You must’ve guessed it by now…if not, I’ll lay
it out for you in all its glory. Your risk is the risk of obsolescence!
If you don’t stop to review your skills; if you don’t
make your move and add instructional design and eLearning to your
array of capabilities; you stand to lose your status as your organization’s
prized asset.
Of course you know all this. If you weren’t trying to
stay ahead, if you weren’t thinking about continuous and accelerated
growth, you probably wouldn’t be my reader. So, here’s
my bit, in the article, “Taking
Stock…Stop! Look! Go!”
I would like to thank our participants of the Instructional
Design & eLearning Training Workshop for their effort and enthusiasm.
We received queries from many organizations after the bookings for
the workshop were closed. We request them to keep an eye on the
Announcements tab at the top of Wavelength’s homepage, as
the next workshop shall be announced soon.
