Hello Friends,
Welcome to this edition of Wavelength.
We are standing at the threshold of a new year. The year 2008!
December this year was different from the Decembers that preceded
it. The December of 2007 decided to dump the cloak of chill that
it used to spread over us each year. December was warmer this year.
No one knows the real reason behind these unexpected climatic changes,
but with or without reason, these changes worry us.
December in Delhi has forever meant caps, mufflers, shawls,
socks, and gloves! It has always meant early morning fog and steaming
mugs of hot tea and coffee! This year December decided to be otherwise.
What would happen if this change were permanent? I think the answer
is quite easy – we will change ourselves.
Similar changes are required when we move from one organizational
climate to another. Similar changes also need to take place when
we move from on role to another; from one industry to another. The
composition of the Indian IT industry is dynamic. The growth of
eLearning as a medium for learning is a global phenomenon, which
is quickly gathering speed in the Indian learning environment. This
growth is attracting professionals from other related areas (academics
and training) towards eLearning.
This month, the Wavelength
article, “The 3Cs of Cognitive Comfort” addresses
these individuals. If you join an eLearning company as an instructional
designer, you need to prepare yourself for wearing many different
hats. The organization shall provide the hats free of cost; you
will need to juggle them well to ensure your mental peace (your
cognitive comfort.) This article will help you classify your tasks
as the 3Cs and provide you some tips on handling each C comfortably.
At Wavelength, we’ve been busy with the first implementation
of the IDSP Online. The implementation was successful and we are
quite hopeful that the participants enjoyed going through the course
as much as we enjoyed creating it. I am thankful to our wonderful
participants, who placed confidence in us to enroll for the first
IDSP Online implementation. The second session of the IDSP Online
and the seventh session of the IDCWC Online shall begin on January
01, 2008.
We have also been busy charting out the future of Wavelength.
While the year 2007 has been the year of consolidation and planning
for us; in 2008, we would act on some of our plans. In the coming
year, you shall see a more vibrant and energetic Wavelength.
Another news that I would like to share with you is that the
Media Newsletter will now be available to you directly on the site.
Our subscription data shows that about 95% of our Media Newsletter
subscribers also subscribe to our ID newsletter, so we will also
make it available through a link in the ID newsletter.
Now about our trainings and courses:
The registrations are now open for the April-June 2008 session
of the IDCWC Online and the March-April
2008 session of the IDSP Online. We
are currently receiving applications for both the courses.
If you are interested in either attending or sponsoring participants
for the ID&CW
workshop, which is being held from January 14 to January 18,
2008; please write to us at connect [at] vibrantwavelength [dot]
com. The next IDCWC Contact session
shall begin on January 27, 2008.
Thanks and Warm Regards,
Shafali
