From the Editor's Desk - February 2009

Welcome to the February edition of Wavelength.

This time of the year usually sees me happy. Why? The reason isn’t at all arcane – I am usually happy in February because it thaws my fingers up and typing becomes so much easier. Unfortunately, this year the unpredictable weather has denied me this simple pleasure. This year I didn’t lose contact with the nerves of my fingers. There were times when I thought that I was going to, but I didn’t. Winters these days aren’t what they used to be in my time. No…absolutely not! I still remember the eighties when Delhi’s mornings arrived cloaked in the winter fog that refused to let the sun shine through, even in the afternoons! I remember the days when I’d reach home covered in woolens, and write poems about the fog and the steaming cup of tea! Those days are gone... not for good…I hope!

There’s another kind of fog that we are seeing these days. It’s the economic fog, which makes the future look hazy. They say that this fog would lift in a year or two, but while it’s here, we can’t just sit home. We have to keep going but yes, we have to cover ourselves well before we step out, and then we need to move with care. We have to make sure that we are safe until this fog called the economic slowdown lifts! To this end, we need to skill up or multi-skill. This month’s Mystery of the Month article, “Writing for the Web – A Quick Reboot!” at http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/web_content_writing.htm introduces a skill that can help you strengthen your future.

In our attempt to bring you courses and training programs that assist you in exploring your potential and honing your skills, Wavelength now reaches another milestone with its first one-month course, which addresses the discipline of Web Content Writing. This online course, christened the Content Writing for the Web Certificate (CWWC) Online course aims at building the specific skill-set required for creating content for the web. This course is for those individuals who wish become freelance web-content writers, find a job in this area, or who simply wish to publish their own content on the web… the right way.

The other online courses will begin their next sessions on April 01, 2009. Here are their links.

Our contact programs ASDC (ActionScript), IDCWC (Instructional Design), and AIDC (Advanced Instructional Design) are all scheduled to begin their next sessions on April 12, 2008. The next course group for the FLEX course is scheduled to start on March 08, 2009. If you are interested in enrolling for any of these courses, please call us at 9810324284/120-4315505.

This month, I would like to end this note by thanking all our readers and course participants. It’s because of you and the trust that you placed in us, that we are here and that we are inspired to work towards making learning more effective. Thanks for being there for us.

Thanks and Warm Regards,
Shafali
