From the Editor's Desk - June 2006
Welcome to the June 2006 issue of Wavelength.
It can’t get any hotter! It can’t get any better!
Working 14 hours a day, smiling at the interesting content that
peers out of our monitors, putting ourselves in our audience’s
shoes, and visualizing the happy smiles on their faces; the entire
Wavelength team has been working towards polishing the IDCWC Online
course and making it ready for you. We don’t remember seeing
May fly past us; we were mesmerized!
You too would have been equally busy. Our industry gives us
no respite. We often hear about benches in IT industry, but in our
industry...you are chosen for the next project before you complete
the first. The only break you can “officially” expect
is with Wavelength. If you are found guilty of perusing Wavelength
in office hours, probably your only punishment will be increased
limelight. If you don’t believe me, try it.
To beat the heat, the mystery of the month section brings you
a short but relevant article – “The
Magic of Online Learning.” This article tries to weed
out certain misconceptions about online courses – chief among
them being that online courses are not as effective as contact courses.
The one fish and a pond theory, almost always holds true, but the
individuality of each fish should be upheld. This article also analyzes
the learning interaction “Bloom’s
Taxonomy” in view of its instructional effectiveness.
In addition to this, Wavelength presents a preview
of the IDCWC Online Learning Interactions in form of five samples,
which are taken from different lectures and modules of the IDCWC
Online course. We’ve been receiving applications for this
course from both India and abroad, and we take this opportunity
to thank all those who have placed their confidence in us, which
we promise to uphold.
This issue of Wavelength also brings you the second episode
of the serial “Managing
the Ephemeral Time.” In this episode, some other facets
of time management are explored. I think time management is something
that despite all our good intentions, we happen to ignore. But then
taking one step at a time helps. Whenever I come across a list of
good dos and don’ts, I pick one of them and try my best to
implement it. This helps…just the way we can digest our whole
dinner if we eat slowly, but if we don’t…we throw up!
All the best…time managers!
The biggest news at Wavelength is the launch
of the IDCWC Online course, but Wavelength’s other courses
are also steaming ahead at a high speed.
The 9th group of IDCWC course and the 6th group of ASDC course
are slated to begin classes on June 18, 2006. The next group of
EPCEC begins classes on June 17, 2006. The AS2OOP course shall start
classes on June 18, 2006 (Sunday.) If you are interested in Wavelength’s
unique courses, contact us. Registrations for all courses close
2 days prior to the beginning of classes.
I thank all our subscribers, our students (past and prospective),
and all those who’ve written to us to share their feelings.
With your constant care and encouragement, with each passing day,
Wavelength hopes to become more yours. This month, Wavelength shall
arrive in more than 1400 mailboxes with a simple message, “Let’s
change the way India learns!”
Warm Regards,
Shafali R. Anand.
