Welcome to the June edition of Wavelength.
This morning a dream came true. The rain came rushing down
from the darkened sky and it made the June heat run for cover! I
laughed when I saw the ferocious June heat scampering off…holding
up its flaming pajamas; scared away by the quick but soft blows
of the newborn monsoon.
I’ve seen many Junes – some blazed white hot under
the desert Sun of Rajasthan, others smiled warmly upon me in the
beautiful valleys of the North East. I loved all those Junes alike.
As a child, I remember losing my shoes and running across the angry
hot sand in Jaisalmer, with hot sandy air blowing into my face –
but I also remember continuing to play in the heat until my mother
pulled a sulking me inside the house.
Now I try to shelter myself from the heat. When I enter an
air-conditioned room, I heave a sigh of relief. I’ve now become
conditioned to comfort. The truth is, I’ve let myself become
lethargic. I have a vague feeling that the will to win over the
weather is still there…somewhere – but I don’t
want to find it. I need to be jolted out of my pitiful slumber…quite
the same as you. Whether you wish to acknowledge it or not, you
too have been feeling the same – probably about something
else! Find your comfort zone, then set about dismantling it systematically.
Reclaim your life.
Comfort zones are found in a variety of forms. Some of them
are found in our habits. For example, a habit of enjoying the awe
that a jargon creates. If you find traces of this habit in your
own behavior, get out of your comfort zone and ask yourself the
important question – why do you go through the charade of
using empty jargon, when with a little effort you could change yourself
into a creator, a doer, and even a mentor?
Wavelength’s Mystery
of the Month section presents a short article, “Jargon-free
Instructional Design” for those who detest empty jargon,
and who want to be jolted out of their comfort-zone.
A question that has often been answered by our participants
on our behalf is: How are Wavelength Courses
different? We are grateful to our past-participants for their
recommendations, and I would like to once again say this –
you are special to us. We believe in doing our job with complete
dedication, and we hope that we will find participants with whom
we will be able to form a win-win relationship.
It was long overdue that we published the philosophy that exists
at the core of each course that we create for you. Read
the Philosophy of Wavelength Courses here.
