Hello Friends,

Welcome to the May ’07 edition of Wavelength’s Instructional Design Newsletter.

Summer is here but something is wrong. This summer is different. He seems to have developed some kind of romantic relationship with the sweet and soothing rain. Rain wants to run around summer this year. She follows summer whenever she can, though summer doesn’t relent; he says, “Let me do my job. You shall have your turn, but May and June belong to me.” Rain doesn’t listen; she’s been following summer through centuries, now she wants to be with summer, not behind him.

Relationships are weird. They are dynamic. They make us wonder about the ephemeral nature of our daily routine. But some relationships are simply misunderstood. For example, the relationship between eLearning and instructional design, instructional design and training…Do you know where I am leading you?

You are right. The Mystery of the Month of May 2007, “eLearning, Instructional Design, Technical Writing, And Training – The Maze of Hidden Relationships!” discusses some such relationships. This article was prompted by the myriad questions that I field when I conduct Wavelength’s FREE instructional design workshops. I thought that it was time for me to bring it all together and write a comprehensive yet simple article for those who seek answers to these questions.

We are organizing the following workshops in June/July 2007.

The 1-Day Workshops in June:
1. Instructional Storytelling Workshop (June 16, 2007 – Saturday)
2. SCORM Training Workshop (June 23, 2007 – Saturday)

The 5-Day Workshops in July:
A. The Instructional Design & Content Writing Training Workshop (July 16 – July 20, 2007)
B. The ActionScript 2.0 (with OOP module) Training Workshop (July 30 – Aug 3, 2007)
