From the Editor's Desk - May2009

Welcome to the May edition of Wavelength.

May is one of the two hottest months of the year. I should’ve kept this fact in mind when I began berating May for its callous attitude. “May, you are incredibly hot, hardly the month I’d like to heap praises upon in the Wavelength newsletter,” I said. She scorched me with that white-hot look of hers and told me that she at least was honest. She didn’t go about pretending to be what she wasn’t. I couldn’t agree more – May was honest.

Yet I waited for a change of mind. I waited for a cooling shower that would reinforce this belief in my that when things are at their worst, something works out for you – something unexpected...when you are feeling your lowest, a knight in battle-worn armor looks down into your well of despair and dangles for you the rope of hope! And then it happened – last night, it rained...and the Mercury tumbled down – lower and lower – making the weather relatively cool and comfortable.

Similar despair sometimes crawls over us when we are called upon to address a diverse audience, but then there’s always a surprising rope of hope everywhere. This month’s article, “Reaching a Diverse Audience” attempts to make the trainer’s/content writer’s job more rewarding by using the mool-mantra of connecting with a diverse audience, that could help in creating content that fascinates the audience!
