Welcome to the November edition of Wavelength.
How are you?
I hope that you’ve re-prioritized. I hope that you’ve
reviewed your average day and dropped those activities that guzzled
your time while stressing you out. Believe me, nothing justifies
hypertension, diabetes, and backaches! If you can’t revamp
your day to remove the factors that cause this, reflect upon changing
your life – and begin reflecting now.
With the news channels and the movies pumping into us the daily
anticipation of the apocalypse, and with the climate threatening
us with unknown, unheard of natural disasters in the future; it’s
our present and our short-term future that we need to build. And
then to make our life worth more than our monthly salaries, we need
to change this world for the better – as best as we can! As
instructional designers, we can do our bit by making our content
more relevant and interesting to the audience – so that we
add a little bit of happiness into the lives that our content touches.
Through this long-winded relevance building, I bring you Wavelength’s
Mystery of the Month article for November 2009. “Audience
– The Dominant Factor in Learning Effectiveness”
at http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/instructional_design_audience_impact.htm
would interest the practicing instructional designers. My experience
tells me that often the content developers “understand”
the importance of using the audience profile in content creation;
however, they find trouble in “applying” their knowledge
to the content they create. In my opinion, the issue lies in understanding
how the audience profile connects with the content. This article
will help you enhance your immediate satisfaction by making your
content more relevant to your audience.
