From the Editor's Desk - October
2005

Welcome to the October issue of Wavelength.

October is here. Can you hear the autumn wind humming sweetly into your ears, while its feather-soft locks brush against your cheeks? Can you hear the faint footsteps of winter hurrying to take its place besides you? Oh…I know you can…I can too. With each passing day it becomes more difficult to concentrate on work. The insides of offices are no longer cool respites from the blazing sun and the blistering wind; they now seem to be turning into cold cellars! Am I exaggerating? Of course I am. How else am I to interest you in picnics and parties, in get-togethers, and in movie watching?

Getting together and having fun is what Wavelength’s October issue all about. It is about making friends with your co-creators and it is also about widening the horizons for all of us. With this issue, Wavelength brings to you a new section called Technology - more specifically eLearning technology. This section will comprise links that will deal with eLearning technology. Consistent with the philosophy of Wavelength, we shall begin this section with introductory articles on different technologies and their usage for eLearning development.

The Mystery of the Month that we are going to solve this month is that of “Instructional Myopia. Once again, this article is about getting together and making friends with your peers through your script. It brings to your attention, audiences other than your end-user, and lists a few indicative guidelines that will help your script become friendlier and help reduce discussions and rework. Remember to check it out, Instructional Myopia affects all of us in varying degrees, and only those who are at the receiving ends of our scripts can tell!

Wavelength’s Instructional Design & Content Writing Certificate course continues to on its journey evoking interest and confidence in the industry. The second course group completed their course on October 01, 2005. Their profiles have been made available on the Wavelength site. The third course group is under progress and the fourth course group shall begin classes on October 23, 2005.

In continuance with the October spirit, Wavelength also launches it Flash ActionScipt Developer Certificate (ASDC) course on October 23, 2005. There are two FREE workshops (The IDO-IV on October 09, 2005 and the ASO – I on October 16, 2005) scheduled this month, do attend at least one of them.

I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to Wavelength’s subscribers who with their continued interest in Wavelength are the source of my energy and inspiration.

Warm Regards,

Shafali R. Anand.
