From the Editor's Desk - September 2005
Welcome to the September issue of Wavelength.
Sweet September…so it is! It brings sweet tidings from
the beautiful winter. It tells us that the scorching summer winds
will not be here for another year. It makes us feel that the work-pressure
is lifting, though so slightly. The coffee machine meetings, the
plans for winter picnics, the fresh faces sans perspiration; all
of these make us feel better, more energetic, and more hopeful for
the future. It also brings out the best in us and makes us more
helpful and less critical.
It is this hopeful and helpful Instructional Designer, this
issue of Wavelength seeks to address. This month, the Mystery
of the Month features “Accessibility – A Conceptual
Framework.” The objective of this article is to simplify the
concept of accessibility by generating a need for it. Most of us
do not do justice to accessible design because we do not feel it.
I think we should feel the need for making our content accessible
before we even start our quest to understand it cerebrally. This
article will also introduce this
month’s serial – “Different Dimensions of
Accessibility.”
Wavelength’s Instructional Design & Content Writing
Certificate course continues to evoke great response and interest.
The first IDCWC Course Group completed the course and received their
certificates, on August 28, 2005.
The third Free Instructional Design Orientation (IDO) workshop
by Wavelength is being held on September 11, 2005 (Sunday.) I am
also happy to announce that the next Course Group shall begin classes
on September 18, 2005.
Finally, I wish to thank all 500+ subscribers of Wavelength
for being with us. Your continuous encouragement and support is
what motivates Wavelength to bring the most relevant content for
its readers. Please accept my thanks for supporting Wavelength’s
endeavors.
Warm Regards,
Shafali R. Anand.
