From the Editor's Desk - September
2006                                         Previous Editorials >>>

Welcome to this issue of Wavelength and also to the sweet month of September.

I guess that in the US and Europe, and also in the far north of Asia, September wouldn’t be looked at as favorably as it is in India. The message that September brings to those who live near the equator is that of respite from heat! September is when we feel rejuvenated! September is the month that is truly sweet. The monsoon has gone by, leaving soft-green leaves, beautiful flowers, and dewy-fresh soft grass in its wake. Everything sparkles with flecks of silver that is the reflection of the soft light of the September sun! The world is beautiful!

Summers pull us towards the dark – for darkness often spells coolness. September wipes the gray of this darkness and makes us look at the options for growth. This soft light of September doesn’t make us run for cover, it makes us review our possessions and motivates us to burnish them anew. This September, the Mystery of the Month article, Interactivity - The Lifeline of eLearning, reviews the interactivity of eLearning interactions. It looks at the usual eLearning interactions in a new light and tries to highlight the fact that eLearning offers us the option of making learning interesting, effective, and appealing…and that it is up to us, to take this option or reject it.

This month we explore the culture of Japan, in the Language and Culture section. If you have not chanced upon this makeover of the language and culture section, please see if you would like to add this section to your monthly itinerary of the Wavelength site.

Last month we received a great suggestion from one of our valued readers, and we decided to implement it immediately. Akhil Jain suggested that we add a sitemap, as the site has now grown a lot in terms of the information available here. We have added the sitemap to the top tab menu. It gives you a bird’s eye view of the complete Wavelength site.

Now the NEWS!

We are conducting the Autumn Workshops for Instructional Design and ActionScript 2.0 between November 20 and December 01, 2006. These four workshops will enable participants from all over India to attend Wavelength’s 5-day training programs in Instructional Design as well as ActionScript 2.0. The announcement for these workshops is available at:

If you are keen on joining the next session of the IDCWC Online course, please send us your completed application forms latest by September 20th. The last date for submission of fees is September 25, 2006. The next course groups for the ASDC and IDCWC contact courses will begin classes on September 17, 2006.

I hope that you will enjoy this edition of Wavelength and continue to inspire us to move ahead! This month we’ve seen an upswing in international subscription. We welcome the new international subscribers and invite them to become part of the eLearning wave in India.

Warm Regards,

Shafali R. Anand.
