CONTENT WRITING FOR WEB CERTIFICATE ONLINE COURSE (CWWC Online)
http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/content_writing_for_web_online.htm

:::::::::::: NEW Online Course from Wavelength ::::::::::::

Hello Friends,

Welcome to this edition of Wavelength.

February is the time of the year when I am at my happiest.
Well, usually, I am. This year, however, I fail to find
the happy crystals of the morning dew that used to glisten
on the fresh new leaves of February every year. Things are
changing. If we don't check the change, the change will
run its course...downhill.

We however have the power to control our destiny. We have
the power to change the course of future and what it spells
for each one of us. We have the intelligence and smartness
to steer our future - today to contain the impact of the
environmental factors, and tomorrow to rise above it and
flourish. We can bring back the dew to the leaves and
confident smiles to our mornings - if we decide right, and
if we strengthen ourselves with competencies that were
rare and in demand.

This month's Mystery of the Month article,
"Writing for the Web - A Quick Reboot!" at http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/web_content_writing.htm
introduces a skill that can help you strengthen your future.

Wavelength was founded with a practical yet lofty
vision - the vision of trading value for value, the vision
of empowering the individual who believed in the fact that
worth begets worth, and who wanted to perform his or her
best to earn what he or she so rightly deserved...the best!
To this end, we at Wavelength have persevered to bring you
courses and trainings that we've created to enable you to
fulfill your dreams. Anybody can do a job, but to feel the
joy of performing at a job comes only from the power of
knowledge.

It's that power that we once again bring to you through
the Content Writing for the Web Certificate Online
(the CWWC Online) course
. If you can write well, burnish
your skill with this course to become a true web
professional, who knows what he or she does, and so does
it the best!

It requires you to be sophisticated in your writing, savvy

ID Concepts
--------------------
"Five Instructional Design Principles Worth Revisiting" by
Brenda Sugrue at http://www.qln.ca/Documents/Knowledge%20Base/
Other%20Expertise/Five_ID_Principles_final.pdf

is an excellent checklist that can help you stay on track
while you design. The five principles discussed in this
article are: Learning is not performance (great point - isn't
it quite often that we come across course objectives
that are written primarily to enable learning and not to
impact performance,) the medium is not the method, match
internal and external conditions, authentic practice makes
perfect, and one size doesn't fit all!

----------------------------------
Language & Culture
------------------------------------

Culture doesn't just impact our interactions with people,
it influences everything, including the way we learn.
The impact of culture on computer science education is
discussed in this paper "Learning Styles and
Multiculturalism - The Need to Combine Forces in the
Computer Science Classroom" by Lisa C. Kaczmarczyk.
Read it at:
http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/csed/doc_consortium/DC98/kaczmarczyk.pdf

------------------------------
Writing Style
------------------------------
Read "Excerpts from "On Writing Well" by William Zinsser" at
http://www.cla.wayne.edu/polisci/kdk/general/sources/zinsser.htm
This excerpt explains simplicity, clutter, and style; in a
simple, clutter-less(!), and stylish manner!

Learning Content Management Technologies
--------------------------------------------------------------
At http://radicalpedagogy.icaap.org/content/issue1_2/02kanuka1_2.html
you will find a paper titled, "Using Constructivism in
Technology-Mediated Learning: Constructing Order out of
the Chaos in the Literature" by Heather Kanuka and
Terry Anderson.

This paper discusses the importance of enhancing the
learning process and its outcome, by shifting our
conceptual base from instructivism (which focuses on
meeting pre-defined learning objectives through a set
of methods) to constructivism (which states that the
process of learning should be designed by first reviewing
the learner's prior experiences and analyzing how the
learner constructs his or her new knowledge.) It then
reviews the possibility of using technology-mediation for
enabling learning that is grounded in the constructivist
principles.

Site of the Month
******************
The Site of the Month for February 2009 is simple, elegant,
artistic, yet innovative! It is http://rothaniko.hu/

So click the link to arrive at simple page, where a smiling
demon (who is probably the author of the site) asks you to
launch the site. Please comply.

As usual I now begin the list of those features of this
site, that won my heart. The list is short and sweet and
before long, I would be on my way...so cheer up, and
let's begin!

1. The pre-loader is artistic - but simple enough to be
different.

2. The site loads rather quickly and a bicycle and then
a unicycle rides the waves, while balloons escape into the
red sky. Interesting...and innovative! Don't miss the
chimney on the bicycle carriage.

3. Listen to the creaky sound. Wow, those cycles need
some oiling!

4. Check out the complementary colors and the soothing
treatment.

5. Now click "About" to discover a trailer-scroller that
introduces our innovative artist.

6. Click "Postcards" to release the balloons that carry
the icons for the postcard samples. Watch the organic
treatment of the icons and their placements. Roll your
mouse over the icons to watch the effect.

7. Now click any of the icons. Watch those angels holding
the card for you to see. The subtle treatment, the harmony
of colors, and the right fonts - all come together to
create a lovely experience.

8. If you are an artist (or an art lover,) you should
view the artworks in all the sections of this site. I
did, and I enjoyed the experience tremendously.

So, for a refreshing break from the hi-fi, techno-sites,
click http://rothaniko.hu/, then sit back and enjoy.

Laugh-a-Little
***************
What may be funny in one cultural context may be banal,
or even obnoxious in another...but then that's a risk
that I have to take, if I've selected culture as the theme
for this month's Laugh-a-Little feature.

Check http://www.grantland.net/culture1.htm for some
corporate jokes (subtle, of course - you don't need to
cover your monitor with your jacket, just in case you
know who turns up at your workstation!)

Did that get you laughing?

It did?

Thanks! What? It didn't?

Until next month then...
