Hello Friends,
Welcome to this edition of Wavelength.
Most of us have been experiencing subtle changes in
our environments. For some these changes have been not so
subtle...but then we humans have the ability to adapt, and
this probably is our biggest strength. The strongest tool
that we can use to weather this new storm called the
economic slowdown, is the development of new skills. A new
and relevant skill could help in many ways. It could reduce
the risk of a layoff, increase the future employability, and
enhance the cash-inflows for the family through freelance
work. The advantages of enhancing your skill-set are never
so apparent as they are in the times of an economic slowdown.
At Wavelength we've always focused on empowering individuals
with deep-rooted competencies that help them transform into
value-generators. Our programs are structured to dispel the
mist surrounding the concepts and help our participants
burnish their skills to a level where they are confident of
the skills and the knowledge they own...and where the doubts
disappear.
After a lot of deliberation, many serious reflections, and a
great deal of preparation, Wavelength brings to you two new
contact programs. I am proud to present the
Advanced Instructional Design Certificate Course (the AIDC Course)
and the Programming Logic Fundamentals Certificate Course
(the PLFC Course.)
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Advanced Instructional Design Certificate
Course (AIDC)
(starts on Mar 08, 2009)
---------------------------------------------------------------
This 2-month course is designed for professionals with a
good understanding of instructional design, who wish to
take their learning to the next higher level. Past Participants
of Wavelength's IDCWC and IDSP courses are the ideal audience
for this program.
If you wish to explore new practical and theoretical frontiers
in instructional design, read the details of this course at: http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/aidc_details.htm
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Programming Logic Fundamentals
Course (PLFC)
(starts on Feb 28, 2009)
---------------------------------------------------------------
This 1-month course is created for such individuals who wish
to gain the power of building efficient and clean programming
logic. This course doesn't require any prior programming
learning or experience. If you want to explore programming as
a future career-option, if you want to change lanes and move
from either graphics or writing into programming, or if you
program but you wish to iron out the kinks from your
code-building concepts; this is the right program for you.
This course instills the concepts of programming through
JavaScript. The PLFC could also be taken as a bridge course
for taking the Flex 3.0 Application Developer Certificate (FADC)
course.
If you want to strengthen your foundations in programming
or explore programming as an option, read the details
of this course at: http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/plfc_certificate.htm
A Personal Note from me -
If you are close to someone who is contemplating a career
in programming, you may want to recommend this course to
him or her. Somewhere, somehow, when concepts aren't strong,
the whole super-structure of learning begins to wobble - so
if you really care for someone - make a suggestion that
could change a life.
For both these courses, you are welcome to call us at any
of the Wavelength numbers. You may also write to us at connect[at]vibrantwavelength[dot]com
In the month of February, Wavelength is also organizing
two FREE workshops. Here are the details.
The FREE Physiology of Learning Workshop (Feb 07, 2009)
-------------------------------------------------------
In February, Wavelength is organizing a FREE workshop on
Physiology of Learning. If you are a learning professional,
please read the details of this workshop at:
http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/learning_physiology_workshop_feb09.htm
The FREE Flex Orientation Workshop (Feb 21, 2009)
-------------------------------------------------
For those programming and design professionals who wish to
explore this new technology, which has been sweeping the
world of RIAs or Rich Internet Applications, we are organizing
this three hour workshop on February 21, 2009.
Please read the details of this workshop at:
http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/flex_workshop0.htm
If you would like to attend any of these three-hour workshops
Saturdays - 2 PM to 5 PM at Wavelength, Noida), then please
register early as the number of seats is limited.
Other than the AIDC and the PLFC courses, the next course
groups for the Flex, ASDC and IDCWC courses are scheduled
to begin as follows.
* For the Flex Application Developer Course beginning
on March 08, 2009, please go through the details at: http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/flex_certificate.htm.
* The next session of the IDCWC course also begins on
March 08, 2009. Read the details of this course at: http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/idcwc_details.htm.
* The ActionScript Developer Certificate Course begins its next
session on February 15, 2009. The details are available at: http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/actionscript_certificate.htm.
If you are interested in enrolling for any of these courses,
write to us at connect[at]vibrantwavelength[dot]com
or call us
at 9810324284/0120-4315505.
I wish you and all your near and dear ones love, comfort,
and togetherness. May we all derive strength from
one-another and may we stand strong through these
strange times.
Thanks and Warm Regards,
Shafali

Mystery of the Month

There is a huge difference between a training program
conducted by a great trainer, and a great training program.
A great training program may not have much to do with the
traits that we value so much - including the trainer's
charisma and communication skills. This month's Mystery
of the Month article,
"Great Training Programs
- The Overlooked Open Secret!"
discusses certain tips that help a training program
become great! Read this article at: http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/secret_of_great_trainings.htm

2008 has been an eventful year. How aware are you of
the world events and of the people who made news in
the global arena? The CLICK will help you discover. The
January PEARL is about the different learning theories
and it will help you brush some dust off them. For
the HIVE-lovers the good news is that this month,
HIVE is extra simple!

Learning happens. It happens whether or not we interfere
with the brain's processing of information - and this is
the basis for the principles of brain-based learning.
Read about the principles at: http://www.funderstanding.com/content/brain-based-learning
What may interest you even more are the three instructional
techniques called Orchestrated Immersion, Relaxed Alertness,
and Active Processing.

I can't resist adding http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/worklife/10/22/cb.birth.order.career/index.html
to this section. Is there anything that doesn't make a
difference to the way we lead our lives? On second thoughts,
it's probably great that everything impacts the way we
shape up...for this is why we shape up differently. Are you
wondering where I am coming from? Why...I've just finished
reading the news-item that I've recommended. Check it
out...you might find answers to some of your questions too!

Learning Content Management Technologies
--------------------------------------------------------------
As corporate India tries to find new ways to beat recession,
they would find an ally in technology-based learning.
However, one of the important analyses that such organizations
would need to do is - determining the learner's readiness
status for eLearning. The technology profile tool at http://www.ncrtec.org/capacity/profile/profwww.htm
is a good indicator of what should be considered before
rolling out eLearning as an alternate training method.

Site of the Month
******************
The Site of the Month for January 2009 is... http://www.porliniers.com/
This site is...simply awesome!
Let's get the less urgent things such as work out of our
way before we settle down with a nice steaming cup of
coffee and begin exploring the table of Senor Por Liniers!
When the page loads, click "English" to begin your
exploration!
Here's why this site won my heart.
1. I love the messy look of the table. How I pine for a
table that's this messy...and I truly, truly mean it.
A messy table is the symbol a creative mind. Over these
years my table has deteriorated into an efficient
manager's organized desk...but I vow to make a mess of
it one day. Until then...let's continue with our
deductive analysis of some creative sites.
2. Notice the manner in which the artist organizes his
table for you. The loving handling of the material...it
is so distinctly artistic. While another more normal
human would be disgusted with the untidy articles
strewn over the tabletop, an artist loves his
art-material. But what I like most about this action
of making space was the regard to the audience.
Through his action, the artist says, "I am so glad
that you are here. Let me show you my work."
3. Check out the presentation of the comic strip. The
overall look of the strip, the torn edges, the look
and feel of the newspaper cutting...everything is made
for the table...the scene!
4. Now explore. Move your mouse over the joker, the
newspaper cutting, the crinkly tube of paint, the pot
of Indian ink, and the comic! These are all links that
would help you discover Linier's works.
5. Click "Press" or the newspaper cutting. Watch the
information panel build. Also note the creative treatment
given to it. On the left, the headlines of the news
items are displayed. When you click a heading, the entire
article can be read on the right side of the panel.
6. Click the joker to visit the "Store" section, which
displays some of the works that the artist did for
T-shirts and other merchandise.
7. Also click the watercolor box to view the comic work.
The comic strip scrolls in the panel and you can view the
four comics through the top tabs given with the panel.
I really like the presentation here.
I leave you to explore the other links hidden within
this very interesting site. Please enjoy your stay...but
may I request you to switch the lights off, before you leave?
What? Switch the lights off?! If that's your question,
you haven't reached the site yet. Well, as usual, here's
the link once again - click http://www.porliniers.com/
to
view an innovative presentation of an artist's portfolio!

Laugh-a-Little

During times such as these, when the IMF has just
announced that the global economic growth would slow
down to 0.5% in 2009, even a smile costs a lot...but I
aim at making you laugh! It's a tall order indeed! Whether
or not I accomplish my aim would depend more on you than on

of a union between psychology and BPOs? Find the answer at http://www.funnyhumor.com/jokes/993.php
And if you like to think more than you like to laugh,
or if you would prefer to think about laughter than
actually laugh...then you probably need to give up
