WAVELENGTH -- The ID Newsletter of India -- September 2009
***********************************************************
Hello Friends,
Welcome to this edition of Wavelength.
The September of this year has been a busy month - not just
for us but also for the gods. Too many things have been
happening recently, and what's really shook me up to the
core is the news that in another forty years we could see
an increase of about 4 degrees in the global temperature.
4 degrees! So Delhi could see a temperature of 52 degrees
in summers...and that at the Arctic the temperature would
increase by 15 degrees! What would that do to the ocean levels?
Though all this may sound like the stuff of science fiction,
the fact is that it would have a direct effect on us. Even
the scientists aren't able to predict all the fallouts of
a global warming of this magnitude. However, we can say
with certainty that the future is fraught with uncertainty
and that these unexpected events wouldn't happen AFTER forty
years - they'd happen DURING these years.
So what are you planning to do to make your life better? Are
you in the rut? If your answer is no, you've either broken
out of it or you've stopped recognizing the rut as a
rut - in both cases, you don't need to worry. But if you
are in a rut, and you know it - now is the time to break
out! Now is the time to take command of your destiny! We
value what is rare - our days as we know them are now
rare - only we don't know yet how rare they are. Let's make
the most of them - by living and loving more consciously.
At Wavelength too, we've made some decisions. I would talk
about some of these changes next month, but for now, I'd
like to tell all of you who understand us and our
goal - that we will always strive to make lives better for
all those we exist for - and we exist for those of you who
believe in fulfilling your true potential through talent,
skill, and hard work. We will always be there for you.
This month, the mystery of the month article,
"ADDIE - The Generous Generic" is an attempt to provide
a
short and hopefully interesting commentary on the
usefulness of ADDIE. I hope that it will help you see the
plasticity of ADDIE and use it as the basic framework for
developing your own content processing models. Read it at
http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/addie_model.htm
We shall soon be opening registrations for the next sessions
of our Online Instructional Design, Content Writing and
eLearning programs (starting in January 2010.) The Events
Calendar section of this newsletter will provide you the
links to reach the corresponding pages. Please read the
details of the programs, compare their content outlines,
and select the one that suits you best. For further queries,
you are welcome to send us an email of the course email id
mentioned on that particular page.
Please understand that no two Wavelength courses can be
taken together, so we recommend that you apply for the
course that is the nearest match to your requirements.
The next sessions of our Contact programs are scheduled to
begin as follows:
* The IDCWC Contact Course beginning on November 01, 2009;
please go through the details at: http://www.vibrantwavelength.com/idcwc_details.htm

If you are interested in enrolling for any of these courses,
write to us at connect [at] vibrantwavelength
[dot] com or call us at
9810324284/0120-4315505.
Though the threat of climate change looms large on the horizon,
we should try to be happy today.
I wish you the best for the festival season. May you and your
loved ones be happy and may you be blessed with togetherness.
Thanks and Warm Regards,
Shafali

If email writing depresses you, you probably aren't someone
who delights in the written word. Right? I disagree, but
the article "E-MAIL WRITING ABILITY AND STYLE" by John

makes a lot of sense. This interesting write-up focuses on
the interdependence of email writing and relationships.

Cognitive Footprints
**************************
Dr. Benjamin Bloom began working at University of Chicago,
as an instructor of Educational Psychology. Two years later,
at the age of 29, he completed his Ph.D. Dr. Bloom is best
known for the taxonomy he proposed to explain learning in the
cognitive domain. He also worked on classifying learning into
the three domains: cognitive, psychomotor, and affective.
Dr. Bloom is probably the best-known figure in the world of
instructional design.

educational psychologist.

Writing styles too invoke humor:) Find some cartoons
that bring out the essence of writing style at
http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/w/writing_style.asp
If you are a trainer, you should click http://www.squarewheels.com/jokes/trainerjokes3.html
to read some cool trainer jokes. This goes to prove
that trainers can take a joke! (Only a trainer can profess
to turn someone around by 360 degrees - right?)
Planning on implementing the third and the fourth levels
of the Kirkpatrick model? Not before you've been to
http://www.grantland.net/training2.htm.
And yes, I do
appreciate the elearning implementation
strategy - certainly cost-effective...isn't it?
Be a Cheshire cat! (Is the grin genuine?)
Keep Smiling:--)
